And I was thinking of ordering one a few days ago. Good thing I didn't.

When are the Presscots set to launch anyway? H1/2004?

Do you need a new MB to run the 800MHz chip? Or is it just doubled on a 400 MHz FSB Board? Thanks.

if you want to run at 800mhz you do. some intel 845pe motherboards can run the 800mhz chips as well...

what's a better overclocking chip: p4 2.4c or 2.6c, and whats worth the money in your opinion since the 2.6 is cheaper?

any links to reviews or recommendations for a mobo that'll run these? I wanna upgrade my p4 1.6a/p4s333 :)

thanx a bunch.

There are exceptions, but most of the current crop of Northwoods seem to max. out between 3.2 to 3.5 ghz. With that being the case, go for the largest clock multiplier you can afford because it means you can go 1:1 with cheaper memory.

I think the new "sweet spot" is 2.8 with Winbond BH-5 memory chips. With a tad overvoltage on both the CPU and memory you should be able to get to about 3.2 at 1:1 with tight timings. Drop down to 4:5 and you might see 3.5.

I see no advantge that the 2.4C has over the 2.6C. Occording the the OC database, 2.6C has a tad more headroom. The major advantage that the 2.4C had was price, but that's no longer the case since it's going EOL.

I am more interested in the fact that this is already bringing down Athlon XP prices! I am planning to build a very nice rig for my brother. I was going to go with with Athlon 32 (XP 3200), now I may use the Athlon 62!

That would be the AMD Athlon 64 LITE version, wouldn't it? Maybe the SE?? LOL ;)

Glad to hear prices are dropping again. I've been telling people for the past month to hold off on buying cpu's, since the debut of the Athlon 64's just had to drop prices across the board. :D

How long do you guys think it will take Dell to start reflecting these lower prices? Do you guys forcast a significant price drop in there systems? Oh, one more thing, i'm looking for either a 2.8 or 3.0 system with HT. With average memory and average HHD, (no monitor/printer) what is a 'good deal' price? Thanks!

If you need someone to tell you what a "good deal" price is it doesn't really matter how much you spend because you wouldn't even know you got ripped off unless someone told you. Just lookout for a thread titled: Dell Dimension...... that has about 600 replies beside it.
