Hello all,
I am a new member only because I can't remember my old login. Long time follower of these forums regardless. Anyways, on to my problem. My system is (or should say was) as follows.
Asus P8P67 Pro
Intel i7 2600K @ 4.8GHz
Crucial Ballistix 2x2GB 2133
G. Skill Ripjaws 2x8GB 2133
Asus GTX 560ti
OCZ Vertex 3 128GB x2 Raid 0
Western Digital green 2TB
Lite-On Blu-ray burner
Enermax Pro87+ 600W
CPU and GPU water cooled
The system has always ran well and been on 24/7 for the last couple years (for home automation). I was streaming the DVR to it and it locked up tight. Upon reboot I saw "failed" after one of the checks for the raid controller. Next reboot (and every one after) I see some text at the top for a split second. Then all I get is a flashing cursor. If I wait long enough it says "reboot and select proper boot device or press any key." It does not even make it to the point for me to enter the bios. So I'm pretty sure the motherboard is toast. I hooked up the 2TB hard drive to another computer and it is unreadable. It is not formatted and has no partitions. It looks like it is ok, just lost the data. The first ssd is toast, not even recognized. The second one is probably ok, since it is recognized, but obviously cant read data because it was part of the raid 0 array.
So, my first question is what could cause this amount damage and also cause data loss?
Second, what are your opinions on trying to salvage this rig?
Thanks in advance.
