anyhow, you probably installed XP SP2, which from what i hear is utter crap. you can try to uninstall the service pack from safe mode, boot to last known good configuration, or swap the HD into another computer, pull out all the file syou want to save, then reformat.

if you have a windows xp cd, boot up on it, and install XP into another partition, then boot off it, swap files from original partition, and wipe out old partition.

We run SP2 on CAD and Engineering PC's all across the country with no problems. (600+)AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, Microstation, Telco CMA, connectivity to Verizon via IDDS/Citrix, etc. If you don't have it installed, you shouldn't be talking about it.
