Maintenance service

What does the Maintenance service for Firefox and Thunderbird do ? Do you install it ?

IIRC, it is the auto-updater.

I uninstall it. And I use Revo uninstaller to uninstall things. Makes sure everything is gone.

I believe it's for updating so it doesn't have to ask for admin rights when it runs an update and may have a function for auto-updating. The GoogleUpdate service does something similar.
