Plan an escape!

I have.. and I plan to move as soon as I'm 50, because at 50 you qualify for retirement visa's in a lot of countries and you take your pick.
Japan's not one of them sadly. Would probably be my first choice exiting the US.

Thailand humidity would kill me, but god I'd love the food.

Thailand's scams and farang double pricing (foreigner charges) will kill you a lot faster due to anger of being ripped off than the humidity!

Also there's been a ton of mass shootings in Thailand recently.. may not make the news here, but it really is become more like America with every crazy having access to guns!

Funny how the American Nazi Party (GOP) thinks it represents the very fine white people but doesn't protect them from what's actually killing them.

Just scares them of the trans or gay boogeyman and keeps them scared!

I bet this whole thing doesn't even get 30 seconds on FOX and other right wing outlets because it doesn't fit their agenda.
If a drag Queen or trans person did this Fox would cover 24x7

Thailand or Bali for me...

Cebu and Angeles / Clark are really good too. Maybe not as much on the tourist map but real hidden gems!

Advantage on language too!

Goa, Pondicherry, Cali and Medellin too and Costa Rica.

I've travelled quite a lot.. so I found some real nice gems.

Per CNN, person of interest:

Police identified Robert Card, 40, as a person of interest in the shooting, adding he should be “considered armed and dangerous." A manhunt is underway in Lewiston, the state's second-largest city which is about 36 miles north of Portland.

Has there been less mass shootings or just lack the of coverage because not double digit victims?

Sadly, if it's not double digit, it seems to be just another routine gun violence death. It doesn't even register as a blip on the news anymore. Think about that. A life was cut short by gun violence, and it doesn't register as news anymore. That's completely screwed up.

Mass shootings in America are dog bites man level of story these days.

@HomerJS

Yeah, 22 confirmed so far, and considering the number of injured, maybe a few more by tomorrow.

I was responding more to @eelw question of if there was any less gun violence, which is no. It's just not reported as much because, sadly, it's become somewhat "normal" news now. Which is just sad.

But fear not, the NRA and bible thumpers say if you pray hard enough, all the gun violence will automagically disappear.

It’s a mental health issue. The problem with that is that there is a whole political sphere of right wing media feeding those with mental health issues, at best and at worst, creating people who develop mental health issues. Of course when people point out the common denominator we’ve got people in the right wing media’s target group to come running to their defense to claim “lone wolf”.

Someone should probably tell them that wolves travel in packs and are social animals. Where there is one there are others to follow. Supposedly killing the head of the pack (the alpha male and the alpha female) can cause a pack to unravel.

Instead of “loan wolf”, I think the term should be “cancer”, as in we have a cancer that is spreading across America and it’s needs to be removed.

Fun fact: wolf packs don't have an "alpha" in the traditional sense of the word, they're families with a male and female who pair for life and their litters who they raise to "adulthood". The Alphas are literally mom and dad.

A lot of this hooey about alphas came from putting a bunch of unrelated wolves into captivity together and then extrapolating things that were learned from this unnatural social situation onto wolves in the wild.

Australia. Strict gun laws and they don’t deal with this kind of shit
We have strict entry requirements. The ability to watch an entire game of cricket without falling asleep and being able to eat two piece of vegemite toast without gagging.

All I'm picturing in my head is how millions of ahhhhhh.... "responsible gun owners" turn their backs, go grab a beer and head outside for some fresh air whenever these AR type mass murders show up on their TV screens. They literally just don't give a fly'in leap'in fuck about the tragedies and heartbreaks their fellow AR owners spray their way across the nation.

Doh, shooter is a certified firearms instructor and a US Army reservist. You couldn't find a more responsible gun nutter. I wonder what made the gun nutter less safe? Must be women?
He supposedly had checked himself in for mental health issues (hearing voices) but had just been released
