I love ASUS BIOS's with their Firmware but hate their cheap MB PCB's as compared to Gigabyte PCB's with a somewhat lazy BIOS VS above all a descent PCIe/GPU contact interface for Multiple GPU's.

I still use ASUS MB's but WTF ASUS is becoming a SIS Tomato.

Wish I-Will & EPOX still made MB's - ABIT was a cheap solution.

OH Hum!

Here's my issue:

I run CF 290X with XSPC Razor WB's linked with a Solid Water Tube which basically makes to the 2 cards a heavy single unit. The MB is an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro GEN3.

The problem is over time or if I move the case when taxing CF in Games or Benching the video locks up. The only fix is to shut down the system kill power and re-seat the CF Cards.

I have ensured that both XSPC 290X's with the solid water tube connecter is accurately aligned, cleaned MB PCIe Slots and use 4 screws to lock the cards in place plus have laid the case on its side.

Why then over time or if I move the case does the 2nd card drop out if it were not for a poor secondary PCIe slot or the MB flexes.

It's just a pain at times to re-seat the GPU's.

So you've run this exact wc setup on a gigabyte board, moved the pc case, or had it running for a while and didn't have this issue?

Yes I've run SLI on Gigabyte MB's in the pased without this issue.

Your statement is irrelevant to the issue.

It was a question, not a statement, hence the question mark. And your response doesn't come close to answering. I asked if you've run this exact setup. Same cards. Same CPU. Same water cooling setup. You initially say CF, then mention SLI. Pick one.

Before blaming the mobo, perhaps the rest of your HW is to blame. Are you OC'd?

This could also cause by the case too. I always take the video card bracket off and dremel the screw hole on the bracket. This way the Video card is bolt down with out any stress.

Sounds like one card may never be fully seated to start with.
I would loosen the the two screws that hold the rear bracket to the card and raise
up the bracket so there will be more tension on the card when mounted.

I've done that numerous times to ensue that each card is seated but to no avail after time, say a month before I Bench but that consecutive Bench will Fail and I'm in the back seat where my video freezes and CF has failed due to a dead card and I've rotated 3 290X's.

I'm at the point to find NO magic angle and ASUS MB's tend to flex GPU PCIe Slots.

I'm up and running ring now but can't say for how long before I have to re-seat CF.

Perhaps I have a faulty MB but after 3 years of putting up with this CF Crap is ASUS going to replace it. To me as being a PC Enthusiast, this is not a minor glitch.

Holy crap: I think I found the problem - It's either a bad cable or outlet on the PSU that feeds the Secondary GPU.

2 years of this intermittent *&^% and I'm close to solving it.

When I ran the Secondary PSU cables on the Primary GPU, I had no video.

It may not be the MB or CF alignment but the 8 pin Power cable or PSU interface - Definitely not the card as I've rotated 3 different 290X's in that slot.

Perhaps I should have Labeled his thread "CF Trouble Shooting"

Sometimes it's all right to RANT as it gives you incentive to solve something.

I promises to update this intermittent lose of CF and not necessarily blame the MB Mfgr.

Perhaps I should have labeled this thread "CF-Trouble Shooting".

Ah Hum, needless to say it may be an XFX BEFX 1050 Watt PSU interface or cable Kit Issue.

You owe Asus an apology.
I didn't name ASUS in the title of my thread but I'm about to BASH XFX for either a bad cable or PSU outlet interface: considering I've lived with this internment lose of CF for 2 years.

LOL, so what if it wasn't in the title. It was the very first sentence of your post.
You mean to tell me you could have diagnosed this intermittent aggravating CF issue - First off!

Haven't fixed it yet - Perhaps next week as I've got to attend court. You know every day life S(*t but at least I tracked it down over this rant and that's what AT Forums is all about.

Thanks Guy and Gals for your interest and input ;o)

No. But I also wouldn't have made a rant about a companies "inferior products" without actually determining said "inferior products" were actually the problem. You didn't ask for help troubleshooting an issue, you just said Asus sucks.

Maybe me too. :colbert:

Figured I'd let you handle that aspect yourself. LOL.

Well I did take the time out to FIX It. A Crappy 1050W BEFX XFX PSU PCIe Modular Cable that tended to wobble in the Modular PSU Interface.

I still hold the RECORD after 2 years, for AMD GPU Cards in reference to Unigine Benches for either Single or CF GPU's posted in AT Forums on this P8 i7 2700k Z68 ASUS Water Cooled Platform.

She's Fast, Cool, Compact in a Fractal Midi ARC R2 case, Heavy and undoubtedly will spin your meter ;o)
