Mail server options?

Here at work I am trying to replace a sun colbalt raq550, I use as a mail server. It has an older version of open webmail, and probably has quite a few viruses as well. Right now I'm checking out a few other servers, but would like some other recomendations. Exchange is completely out of the question, it would cost way to much for the 170 mail users I have.

Something I could put on windows xp is preferable, or even a linux distro with everything pre compliled would work too. Just want ot see what some others are running. Thanks!

I have used both and these are very easy to set up. I had zero experience with Linux and I still have built 7 of these Fedora boxes and one Debian. I am using this as a stand alone server so if you need those instructions give me a shout.

Fedora Core 4

Debian

Thanks I'll take a look at those. I actually setup a Debian mail server once (well as best I could), it was pretty easy, but I really am weary of linux, as I am not well versed in it. I also like the idea of having a gui admin console to make administrative changes. Something like Clark Connect, if anyone has ever used that.

Thanks everyone!

Just read the docs. You can have a Gui. On all of my systems I have a gui. This is soo easy read and get back to me. I knew nothing about Linux and still not that good but just by following the directions I was able to do it in 1.5 days. Anti Spam, Anti Virus and address verification. and so on.
