mail: How do you send?

It's been forever since I've used the mail program in UNIX. How the hell do you end a message & send it?

For those who wonder, my e-mail is down so I'm telnet'd into Sarah's account at her school to e-mail her from her own address. For some reason it won't let me use pine, so I'm stuck using mail.

mail -s sugject whoever@whatever.com

use "." on a blank line.

I would have done that, but I got:

Your terminal, of type &quot;unknown&quot;, is lacking functions needed to run pine.

Whateve that means. It worked fine from home.
