LOL! Does no one see the irony in this: Indian PICK-UP? hahahhahahahha...
Their tractors are all over the place though!
And, people seriously think $22k is "expensive"? hmm.. I find that strange on AT with people who have spent thousands of dollars on their computers.
The "Turban" is what the Indian people wear on their heads so thats way it looks like it was designed for them (goofy looking tall cab)...
And it's not here? not defending, because that's how it is there, but as long as there are humans with power, there will be bribes - location/culture/religion/anything else doesn't matter.
dude, i know you're indian and all but still... coming to the defense of a "mahindra", your bias is showing.
there is absolute 0 reason to buy this pickup over the other options.
mileage isn't better than the others, and it isn't cheaper by much either.
I really don't understand.. the "Turban" argument here.. it just does not make sense to me. People who regularly wear a Turban make up <5% of the population. I have driven the SUV version of this platform in India(Its pretty successful over there).. and the driving experience is horrible to say the least, there not a single redeeming feature to speak of this vehicle.
That's like comparing Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to Mitsubishi Automobiles.30+ mpg and a diesel engine.
Mahindra has been in the US agricultural market for many years now and their tractors have proven to be exceptionally reliable. If they can build reliable diesel engines for heavy agricultural equipment, I think they can manage for street use.
I think it will occupy a decent niche in the market unless they really let people down on reliability, which I don't expect.

Strange that it would get 19 in the city and only 2 more on the highway. Hopefully for them it's some sort of programming glitch.
The Jeep Liberty 2.8L turbo diesel 4X4 was rated 22/26 initially then revised to 19/23, for comparison.
You do know why that cab is that tall...? For the Turban`s...!

Time for beloved patriot to go back to the drawing board and quit smoking his imported Jamaican crap...
Hindus aren't Muslims. They don't make the pilgrimage to Mecca.
And, as has been mentioned, Sikhs (they wear turbans and also aren't Muslim) are a distinct and tiny minority of all Indians.
Finally, good weed is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent. Indeed the very art of hash making originated there. No Indian imports ganja from Jamaica.
In fact, ganja is a Sanskrit word! For you, I probably need to add this.
Way to fail hard and repeatedly here, Leroy. I dub you the Mahindra pickup of Garage posters.![]()
Well, the 2008 Grand Cherokee 4X4's 3.0L turbo intercooled diesel was rated 17/19/22 with a 5 speed auto. 215hp and 376tq.
The Mahindra is Dakota sized, I believe.
That's too much money for an Indian truck.
Indian ain't got nothing to do with it.It's too much money for the specs given the competition in the segment.
If this thing had 160hp/260tq, 24/28mpg, better looks/features, and was ~$15k or so, they'd sell out easily. Being as mediocre as it is, it's impossible.
Breaking into the domestic truck market is damned hard now, the steady high level of quality and competition has resulted in modern fullsize trucks being relative bargains for high quality products, at least the base models intended to showcase the trucks low price. You see ads all the time advertising 2011 F150 = $18,995!, etc. Those are base models, but even those base models have great features and build quality. That goes for Dodge and GM as well, with Toyota right there with them. Nissan was close, but their Titan is out of date now and falling behind, most particularly with the horrendous fuel economy.
The next gen Titan was supposed to be a rebadged Dodge but I think when Chrysler went belly up they killed that deal.
