Magicians sue Japan TV networks

I don't think it's a stupid lawsuit at all. Illusionists are having enough hard time trying to trick us and then this comes out and exposes their methods. The reason you go to see these kind of show is you want to be fooled. They took the fun and mystery out of it. The TV station and the producers of the show should be sued.

Endangerment of livelyhood, maybe revealing trade secret?

Endangerment of livelyhood you have no right to make a living doing a particular method

And there is nothing wrong with revealing trade secrets if you figure out the secret on your own using only publicly available information.
