The point of Magic is not to take the other person's cards, but to kill him by taking away his life points. You do this by attacking with your creatures you "summon" onto the table. The other player then selects creatures to defend with (each creature has a strength and defense rating). If you attack with more creatures than the other player defends with, then damage from the unblocked creatures are dealt to the other player. There are quite a few rules and tricks that can be done to either do a whole lot of damage to an opponent (you can theoretically do an infinite amount of damge with the right cards and tactics) or to protect yourself from a lot of damage. It was very fun and I have about one thousand cards at home (a friend of mine is a collector and has over 200,000 cards). I stopped playing just because I began to lose interest and because Wizards started introducing a slew (sp) of new rules and cards way too fast for me to keep up with.
