I don't think this works in vista. Try it and see what happens..

Nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the computer which can be named as "CON".

This is something pretty cool..

Try it now. It will not create a "con" folder.

1. Open an empty notepad file

2. Type "bush hid the facts" (without the quotes) don't capitalize, don't hit enter, no whitespace

3. Save it as whatever you want.

4. Close it, and re-open it.

I capitalized Bush in my text. It doesn't work when capitalized. Just tried it. Just edited op.

The CON things works in Windows 7 (can't create the folder). The notepad thing works because of the way Notepad infers the text encoding by doing some fancy statistical analysis on the bit patterns of the file. On rare occasions this fails. Text

That bug seems to be fixed in the Windows 7 version of Notepad.

Others you can't use: aux, nul, prn, lpt[0-9], com[0-9].

Reminds me of the fun I had at school causing win95 to BSOD, "back in the day" (eg. start -> run -> con\con -> enter).
