I've never had the felt need for a blender (or food processor).

Anyone tell me why I'd need them? I'm kinda interested.

once I started making cheesecake in a food processor, I never looked back.

I also use it for making some sauces that require pureed vegetables, and when I want a shake and/or margarita.

Thanks guys.

I watched all the foods you can make at Vitamix website. None of them interest me.

Fresh veggies & fruits = eat them whole = better for your body (takes time to digest + less sugar spike).

It looks like I'm trying to get an excuse to buy one. I guess I don't need it afterall.

Food processor is a convenience item, if you need a ton of stuff chopped, sliced, julienned and don't want to do it by hand it is great. It might serve in some blender functions as well but usually won't do nearly as good of a job if you want it to be liquified.

A blender is great for sauces or soups. For texmex/mexican dishes making a sauce with rehydrated peppers would be tedious/time consuming without a blender. I've used it for Indian curries, Italian roasts (blend up the veggies and finish the meat in that), soups, dips and the other more obvious applications of smoothies, shakes, blended drinks. I don't use it weekly by any stretch but when I want to create those particular style of dishes it is invaluable.
