it was most likely loaded with the North America Map. You need to buy a map pack with South Africa in it. Btw, where in South Africa do you live? I use to live in Paarl right outside of Cape Town 🙂

Of course it doesn't work... it probably only has the North America maps loaded on it. I don't think that they make maps for Africa, either, so you're basically hosed.

Why would they not have maps for Africa...?

because Americans here thinks all of africa is rawanda, and everyone lives in mud huts or cardboard boxes and has animals in their yard

Because Africa is a big place, and contains millions of people, many of whom actually move from one place to another - believe it or not....

But the elephants they ride know their way around.

It probably can't even see the correct satellite, so you're hosed (not to mention the map software thing - and why would anyone make maps of Africa?)

Because he didn't buy a GOOD GPS with African map packs, like a Garmin 🙂

There are maps of South Africa available. TeleAtlas has them. I've also seen some of the northern countries like Egypt. I don't know what format your Magellan needs though.

Lies. I have seen Lethal Weapon 2, I know about those South Africans.

Yeah, you might be right ultimatebob, why would they make maps for Africa, why in the world would we need GPS when we still ride elephants to school and work and have lions roaming in our gardens... Strange thing is, since they don't make maps for Africa, then why would all the electronic stores in Africa sell GPS units, mmmm

Wow, I am surprised at the ignorance of some of you. I was born and raised in Africa, then lived in America for 9 years. We get HBO here, all electronic stores sell GPS units with detailed maps. My phone has GPS capabilities. We even have some of the best heart surgeons in the world here. the one thing we don't have, which i am incredibly thankful for is old Bush.

yeah old bush is nasty. all fucking gray and shit. i prefer young bush. but not to young as to get me in trouble!@

You gots the Home Box Office and the Global Positioning?!
I like the surgeons on Grey's Anatomy, are they like those guys?
I hate old bush too, unless it's been freshly prepared.
Push the yellow button three times, then the purple one four times over, then the yellow again until the battery dies.
Problem solved.
