That's actually an area worth going after. It's strategically important for us to maintain a shipbuilding capacity. Some very targeted tariffs make sense. Broad based tariffs are terrible.

That move was never revisited, even though the shipbuilding industry lost 40,000 workers during the Reagan years.

China built more than half of the ships by gross tonnage in 2023. This makes it very likely all shipping companies have some MIC ship.

Seriously, "shoot your own food or become vegan if you don't like us treating our animals like shit"? I think the world is a bit more complex than that. Here in WA we've already legally mandated cage free eggs, were you against that too?

No. But, I think there are people that have zero ideas about how, or where their food comes from and we created these animals specifically for our use for thousands of years through breeding. I don't think the animals would no any different, but it makes us feel better.

We can be meat eaters without necessarily having the gross factory farming system that exists today, but that could also mean people eat a little less meat. The horror of not having meat at everu single meal. How will Americans survive?
