Mafia 3

slayer202

Who's getting it?

I have it preordered for PS4 but I just read that there aren't going to be any advanced reviews, which isn't great news I'm assuming. Looks like a great game otherwise

Thought the commercial looked interesting... but haven't played the other 2 so no true interest. First 2 any good?

never played them either but the gameplay on this one looks pretty nice from what I've seen. sort of like GTA but more refined?

Played the last one a looong time ago. Definitely getting this one on the ps4 or I could get it on PC but my best buy gamers unlocked benefits would only work for console games as they never have PC games in stock.

Does this have an open world non-storyline option like GTA? Don't care too much about a storyline to be honest.

It's open world but it does have a story line and I'm not sure how close they want you to stick to the story but from what I've seen its pretty much choose how you want to do the missions, stealthy or assault like.

Well I figured there was SOME storyline. Just wasn't sure if there was a "open world" aspect to the game like GTA where there is no storyline, just "mayhem" as you see fit.

Yea I don't think it will be a complete free for all. I mean in the previous one you could do what you wanted and just not go on the missions until you felt like it. Maybe this one will be different. GTA will always be gta so I've noticed any other game that takes in open world, changes the formula while restricting certain things.

The gameplay videos I've seen mainly dealt with missions but since it's only single player I don't doubt there are free roam activities to do.

I did watch some YouTube reviews that seemed pretty decent. Reminds me of scarface when I played that on PC a long time ago. I think it's something I'll enjoy.

I wish best buy had the PC version so I could use the gamers club membership discount on it. Guess I'll get it for my ps4 instead.

I have played quite a few hours of the game and I really enjoy it. They had to change it up from the Italian mob that's been done before. I find the scenery and little towns in the French quarter to be interesting.

There is a lot of collecting to do for certain type of lore. The gameplay itself is free roam but mission based. I haven't come across all the types of missions there is to do but it follows similar suite to mafia 2 where you take down districts and put people in charge so you can make money.

You can then help out by increasing earn from your rackets by doing side missions.

I really enjoy the gunplay, the weapons fire nicely and close to how weapons in that timeframe would operate. Melee is pretty standard but the brutal takedowns are pretty cool.

I really enjoy how the story is told from different perspectives. From what I've played it seems to be a pretty long game.

I just got into the real start of the game and this is pretty much a GTA clone with a more serious, better story. I got bored with GTA 5 pretty quickly so we'll see how long this lasts

Most of the reviews seem to say it has a great story, but the gameplay is boring and repetitive. The charm of the GTA games for me was not the story, but all the mayhem I could cause outside of the story. If Mafia doesn't have any of that, I can see where it would be boring.

It has the same type of open world but it's less focused on random chaos. You can still go on a rampage but I think it's slightly more limited in scope.

I'm not much of a gamer anymore these days but I think the game is pretty good. I've played a bunch of games that haven gotten rave reviews that I didn't find as playable

You can do random chaos. I'm still early so I don't have all the weapons yet. But good luck trying to evade the police in this game.

I got a bunch of cops on me the one day and I could not escape at all. The cars are just not that fast, most of them.

As you progress you get abilities that will cost you money to call off the cops or bribe them.

That was pretty much my feeling about Mafia 2 IIRC. It was an open world game with nothing much to hold your interest other than the story. It got boring

I got bored in gta too though. Essentially everything is fetch this go here, kill or tail this person, too. I rarely every did anything extracurricular in gta for more than one time if I wasn't doing story or side missions.
