Talk about odd...

Here are my specs.....

1.33 @ 1520 (9.5 x 160)
256mb Corsair PC2400 CAS2
EPoX 8K7A with the latest drivers from AMD
VisionTek GF3
SB Live! X-Gamer

Memory timings:
8
8
8
6
2
2
2
2

I can run Sandra 2001SE and my score is 764/1006 not bad eh?

But this is what happens... go to launch 3dmark2k1, click on the shortcut and all it does is hangs... need to do a hard reboot.

I am trying to determine if the memory timings are too aggressive or not. Anyone's input is greatly appreciated.

In my experience, 3dMark 2001 seems to be very sensitive to instabilities in your system. In my old computer, at the settings I was at I could run everything I tried without problems except for 3dMark 2001. It would crash everytime. If I backed the FSB down a little bit, it would work again.

It might be the CPU. Here are my mem settings I have found run me fine at 166 on 8k7a with pc2400. 8-8-7-3-2-2-2. Also make sure 2.9 volts for memory.

Mike...

I will have to try those settings... what multiplier are you using and what batch# is your cpu? and stepping?

I found the same thing, but I couldn't hit 158mhz. Other apps did ok, but not 3DMark2001. I don't think it was my memory, however. On the CUSL-2, I can clock the memory at 3/4 fsb, but it still locks.

Horndog, your profile lists an Epox 8K7A+. I wasn't aware that the raid version hit the shelves yet....

John... I thought I ordered the 8K7A+, but I guess not!! All this time I thought it was! The box has the model number in the smallest font surrounded by Asian characters!
