I will post pics later.

Takes a lot of potatoes to make $40. I'd like to see the size of this pot.

no potatoes. I did have to drain the pork lard from a pot to make room for the chili.

I'll have to try that one out.

Usually have a lot of that in the fridge anyway.

Lots of cans in that recipe.

I usually don't include the cans. Sometimes.

Very little reason to use dried beans, except that they're cheaper. You just end up with more work and a less consistent texture than with canned. And fresh tomatoes for chile? Nah. For a Texas chile, most folks don't use more than a bit of tomato paste.

I'd have to leave the beans out myself though, the wife is dried bean phobic for some reason.

That or just make it for myself, I do that now and then.

I should get my sister-in-laws recipe, I love her chili.

Didn't say it was better. But it sure as fuck didn't cost $40. Basic ground beef chile with a decent amount of veggies. I really love the mushrooms instead of more meat. If you don't ... who gives a shit? Make what you like.

I just bought everything to make a $40 lasagna. I'm making everything (including the pasta and sauce) from scratch though.

Also more nutritious using dried beans since there's way less sodium. They're pretty easy to cook with too.

Something isn't "more nutritious" because it contains less sodium. You're going to add salt to the dish anyway, and can easily buy low sodium canned beans if it's really a thing with you.
