Does the constitution say, "there is an absolute right to own a firearm"?

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The seems pretty absolute to me.

Yes there is. It is mentioned 5 times in the constitution.

It is mentioned multiple times because it is outlining specific ways in which you are not allowed to infringed upon it. If voting was an absolute right why not instead simply say: "the right to vote shall not be infringed".:hmm:

Excellent job, These leftist morons are getting their asses kicked😀

They are the ultimate hypocrites.

Lets just say for arguments sake you have the knowledge of all and that your way of thinking is what "God" has ordained and that you are indeed correct and wise in everything you say and do.

Anyway do you think you have EVER convinced anyone with your style and approach here to change their minds? Has any one come around to your point of thinking? When you label and insult people all you end up doing is turning off others and end up preaching to the quire. While that mike make you feel good in reality what is it doing? Nothing. So if your goal is to troll then keep on keeping on but if actually want someone to listen what you have to say, back off on the labeling and insults.

Imagine when the day comes when people can vote at home through the Internet. ^^

no kidding. if they really wanted voter turn out, they would.

they trust the internet with enough power that one persons entire financial portfolio can be ruined instantly, but when we need to vote for a temporary position worker OH HELL NO!

Would you support amending the 2nd amendment to omit the first half of it? The "well-regulated militia" part certainly interferes with the latter half. Why not clarify it by editing the constitution?

If someone cannot be bothered to go down to the local polling place why do you trust them to bother to figure out who to vote for?

And how does limiting early voting deny someone the right to vote on election day?

it doesn't.

It's like a poll tax in many ways.

Long lines at voting stations effect to discourage voting. Working people especially cannot afford to wait in line so long.

Why are you so intent on making voting difficult?

Quality over quantity.

People have managed to show up at the polls for 100s of years.

Not at all. Black Americans were effectively disenfranchised until the voting rights act in the 1960's. Which probably is what you would have preferred.

And this has what to do expecting people to show up at the polls to vote?

Spoken like the true anti American you are. Why do you hate America?

Lets see originally land owning white men were the only ones allowed to vote. While those standards are clearly outdated in today's world I think they were put in place exactly for the "quality over quantity" idea I support.

I think the better question is why do you want people who cannot even effectively run their own life to have a say over yours?

People are often poor as a result of public policy. Denying them a vote is unfair. It entrenches their poverty and it corrupts the upper classes as well.

Bah. Why does this need to even be explained?

Far more often people are poor because of their repeated poor life choices.

Allowing them to vote themselves the money of people who make good life is what I would call unfair.

Bah. Why does this need to even be explained?

Probably because it is largely untrue. If it was true how come any time poverty is brought up single mothers inevitably follow?

Lol as opposed to the rich voting for interests that gain them more money. Surely you aren't this naive.

This trend that the Repub leadership have gotten ahold of is merely accellerating the sinking of their "boat with only one oar" due to the fact that while the multitude of small holes that are appearing at one end of their boat are desperately being plugged in panic mode, other folks in that boat are furiously poking more holes at the other end while still more of them are bailing water into their boat at the same time.

All that while the captain and crew are disingenuously trying to make their red dyed pachyderm bray like a mule but just can't seem to do anything with that long swinging trunk and those madly flapping ears.

Let it sink.

Maybe if the poor didnt vote instead of the middle class having to pick between supporting the rich or supporting the poor they could vote to support the middle class? Did you ever think of that?

Why are you so intent on making voting difficult?

so your admitting that limiting elections to a single day does not violate any rights?

The current early voting system is a mess. depending on the location you live in voting hours and days are different, and everything is subject to the local clerks office whims.

Some locations might have long hours and many days, others might only open for a few hours and have limited days they are open.

the fairest ways to have elections are day of + absentee ballets

What's funny is that you're desperately trying to find a reason why people should have voting times restricted. Why don't you want the greatest number of people to have input into the democratic process?

if you'll agree that restricting weapons to single-shot pistols doesn't violate any rights.

voting day is voting day. no ones rights are restricted by having it on a single day. they can still vote. if they cannot, then get an absentee ballot.

your example is not comparable

What's funny is that you're desperately trying to find a reason why people should have voting times restricted.

So you have a right to vote at midnight? So you have a right to vote 2 days after the election?

Everyone knows voting times have to be restricted.

Why don't you want the greatest number of people to have input into the democratic process?

Because most people are idiots.

I think the better question is why you think people like this:

http://articles.latimes.com/2012/may/18/nation/la-na-nn-tennessee-man-has-30-kids-20120518

Should have a say in running the country.

Restricted from their current status, genius. Why don't you try to explain that one instead? Oh yeah, because you can't.

This is rich, coming from you. You're an utterly irrational bigot who is incapable of constructing even the most rudimentary coherent argument, yet you should still have the right to vote because you are a citizen of this country.

You should be among the last people arguing for intelligence or education as a basis for the right to vote as you would be one of the first to lose it.
