How far along are you guys in your Madden franchise? I'm 6 seasons into my 2002 franchise...took the Cowboys from being terrible to having a rating of 95, not bad, Quincy Carter has become a god :) This season I pumped up the difficulty to all-madden...games are CLOSE, but I'm still undefeated :)

3rd season with the Giants. 1st season got to the superbowl and lost to the steelers, 2nd season missed playoffs with 9-7 record. This season have one of the top rated offenses and very good defense. All my draft picks and trades worked out great. My payroll is almost at the max though :(

P.S. Did anyone else notice a bug in Madden 2003 where John calls Jason Sehorn, "Seymour", where Seymour I believe is DT for the Pats. Funny how this slipped quality assurance :)

I'm at 6 or 7 now, last years I got to 12.

I got rid of Quincy Carter and put in Chad, was doing good until he got hurt in Preseason game and was out for the rest of the year. :( Now I have to catch up to the numbers he lost during his injury.

When did Emmitt retire on you? If you kept him the 1st season. He bailed on me after 1st season, even with 2k rushing yards.

After 2 seasons, he was still in, but TERRIBLE, so I traded him & a second round draft pick to the Dolphins for Sam Madison, since the Cowboys were desparate for a corner. I drafter a rookie first round, only a 68 overall but 95 in speed, had 4000K his first season :) Has been the league MVP every year since I drafted him, and is first in the running so far, even on all-madden difficulty. Emmitt retired the next year, btw....I'd say I screwed the Dolphins pretty good on that one :)

edit: you're 6 seasons in on 2003 :Q and I thought I played it alot....the only thing keeping me from getting 2003 is that I don't want to start over.

I'm in my 6'th season of Madden 2003, overall rating of 82 or 85, somewhere around there, with the Texans. David car *IS* God. How the h*ll do you get good draft picks in madden anyway? I always end up getting the VERY last 1'st round picks which blows because all the other teams get the players that OWN and I get stuck with players that are only good enough to make a decent play once in a blue moon.

I usually get end of 1st round too, unless I trade a player for a 1st round pick. The trick is to take a mediocre rookie and feature him that season, he will get like a 10+ next year.

3 games. One of the guys in our franchise moved to West Virginia, the other is in college, I got 20 more hours at work. It doesn't get a lot of play anymore.

You'll have to trade for them. Or you can choose to finish last one season so you'll have the number one overall pick. ;)

Hmm, this thread makes me want to play me Madden 2003.

I've never done anything except play the friendly game because everything looked so complicated. Have to keep track of players, injuries, payroll, etc etc. and it gets so confusing. I'm not a huge football junkie so I don't know EVERYTHING but I guess I'll give it another try.

I guess I can take a break from Metroid Prime. :D

So if I play like sh*t, I get good draft picks........, kaka :frown:. I've been able to trade the lower round picks (5'th,6'th,7'th) for a pretty high first round pick in the past, I don't get anyone lower than 2'nd round anyway, they always turn out to be complete sh*t for me. I like being a Line backer in a 3-4 defense, it takes alot of practice but once you can read plays the only thing you have to worry about is not getting knocked on your ass by the genetically engineered super human 300+ pound lineman darting after you at light speed that every team accept for mine seems to have. That's one thing that seriously sucks about madden, good lineman are impossible to find in the draft. If you run up the middle at all your line turns to sh*t because at the end of the year because the D-Lineman on every team you go against have an awareness, strength and acceleration level at or above 90. The frikin cardnials are ranked 99 right now

Well, the whole point of giving good draft picks to weak teams is to promote parity. What I do is, during free agent signing, is pick up any decent free agent, whether you need him or not. Then, trade those free agents for picks. If there is a good lineman in the draft, trade one of yours, a pick, and one of those free agents that you don't need. Chances are, you'll get a trade. Also, some of those good players won't get picked first anyway. So, you can trade for the 7th pick and still have a shot at getting that guy.

edit: My dline is 99 overall. My RE is a 93, LE is a 90, and my two tackles are 95 and 96. My linebackers are 86, 95, 99. My cornerbacks are 99, 98, 90, then a few upper 80s. My safeties are 95, 90, and a few upper 80s.

What difficulty are you playing on? I dont like having a team full of people that good, makes it hard for the rookies to get any better for me. When you play in a 3-4 defense your Line Backers make all the plays and not the linemen, so your linemen only make a total of like 12 to 16 takles each a year, and in madden players get worse unless they have like at least 30 or more takles:(. My slowest linbacker is rated at 78 speed wise, and all 4 of them have strength above 70, they put linemen on the ground sometimes!! It's fun watching running backs get chased down by these guy's, I can't remember how many quaterbacks I've injured by blitzing :). I have to play for a few more seasons and see where I'm at though, hopefully I'll be able to trade my way to better linemen and whatnot.

We don't have a Madden game on the current generation of systems anymore. My brother had Madden 2002 for my Gamecube, but he sold it and bought NCAA 2003 for the PS2 that he bought around the time the game came out. Makes me want to go play a dynasty in NCAA now.

The level above default, whatever that is. Usually I trade away my veteran player for a pick and draft the rookie and have him start. One of my tackles, Damon Carrier, is a 95. He started out as a 86. After one season, he improved to 91. After the next, he improved to 95. That's unusual though. ;) I'll probably keep him until he is 30 or so, then I'll trade him for another good, young, DT. For my linebackers, I substitute them around to where they all end up playing in one of the outside spots. I usually don't get to make any tackles with the MLB spot unless they throw a short pass in the middle. A lot of my sacks come from that 3-4 defense where I'll blitz with the left or right outside LB. The middle LB usually just stands around.

edit: I think I play on all pro difficulty. I tried all madden and decided that I'd rather have pumped up stats. ;) If I want a challenge, I play FIFA or something.

You know what really annoys me in madden? I don't know if they changed this in 2003 or not. Pass rushing. If you hurry or hit the CPU's quarterback, and he still gets off the pass, I swear to god completion rate goes up to 99%. How does that work?? Even if they throw a wobbly pass nowehre near the receiver, someone always comes up with it. However, it works right against you, your percentage goes down.
