Madden curse strikes again

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/...s&source=ESPNHeadlines

According to Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron, Young "abruptly" left his home in Williamson County at around 7 p.m. Monday without his cell phone. Those with him at his home, including family members, were "concerned with his emotional well-being," Aaron said.

Police issued a bulletin to all on-duty officers to be on the lookout for Young and negotiators were also placed on standby, a procedure that is common in such situations, Aaron said.

Someone contacted Fisher out of concern for Young, and Fisher contacted the police department, police said.

"Not having all the facts available to us and approaching the matter prudently, we contacted Metro Police to make them aware of the situation and asked for their assistance in locating Vince," the Titans said in a statement Tuesday. "He was located at a friend's house, where we made contact with him.

Well Denver certainly turned out to be the winner in the '06 QB draft--Leinart has bust written all over him, and Vince is now just completely out of it mentally.

Maybe those wonderlic scores were a sign of things to come after all..

I think this is the more relevant part of the article:

Young was booed during Sunday's season-opening victory over Jacksonville and did not finish the game because of an injury to his left knee. The Titans are expected to reveal results of an MRI on the knee sometime Tuesday, and possibly a timetable for the quarterback's return. Fisher said Monday it's not believed to be a season-ending injury, and ESPN's Chris Mortensen has reported Young will miss two to four weeks.

After throwing an interception in the fourth quarter, Young was late to join the offense for its next series, creating speculation that he tried to take himself out of the game after throwing what was his second pick. He sat on the bench after that interception, seemingly unmoved by players and coaches who tried to console him, often holding his head in his hands.

I think his 9 TDs vs 17 INTs last year were enough manifestation of the Madden curse. This is just the "he sucks and was a bust from day one" curse.

It's one thing to just have a bad year statistically, it's a whole different thing to be on potential suicide lookout.

The Madden curse used to only "cause" injuries, next one may be even more extreme.

Vince Young was quoted as saying: " I done with this here playbook learnin'. I don't done did have no learnin' before this.
I don't did have to do no learnin' at Texas. They done did tell me run left or run right and that's what I do."

That was mostly already known though to the football nerds in the world.

Obviously a lot of the people who lived in the Nashville area wanted Cutler. After all he is somewhat of a local hero because of his Vanderbilt career. I know that with Chow here it was probably 1) Vince (because of Bud Adams and the Texas connection) 2) Leinart (Chow) and then 3) Cutler but I can honestly say I wanted #3 the entire time.

Hey come on now, in the off season he went back to school and finished his degree instead of working on becoming a better QB. 😉

"He then came to the practice facility, where it was determined that those initial concerns by his friends and family were unfounded and he returned home without incident," the Titans said.

Not sure what you were driving at by quoting this part of the story but this quote combined with your signature made me laugh.

😀

I know how to help a young quarterback.

Equip him with a receiving corp where the best receiver has, in his best year ever, 813 yards. (with a hall of fame QB)

And opposite of him, we'll start a guy whose top season is a staggering 750 yards - with 346 yards pre-Vince

Lastly, for depth, we'll bring in a guy at 384.

I mean, how could you go wrong?

I know Young fans love to defend him based on his receivers, but it's unfounded. Remember when McNabb was a young, inaccurate running QB on a team with bad receivers? He didn't light it up down the field either, but his decision making was about 8 million times better than Young's, and he NEVER had 4.45% INTs.

Point is, Vince Young sucks big time.

edit: Here was McNabb's pre-TO receiving corps:
Todd Pinkston
James Thrash
First-Down Freddie!
