I haven't played NFL 2K2, mostly since I got rid of my Dreamcast before the upcoming price drops, and I have Madden 2002 and it is simply amazing. Those people that think that Madden 2001 is no different than Madden 2001 are sadly mistaken. I had the same opinion, then the guy at FuncoLand sold me on buying Madden 2002. The stadiums look better, the AI is tougher, no longer is the passing game terribly hard to defend, and the game is on a whole new level of detail.

I might have to pick up another Dreamcast soon so I can play the 2K2 sports series on its original platform, even though they will probably be superior on the PS2. But what are your opinions on the duo?

I'm a Sega Sports fan.

Madden has always seems real sloppy to me. Sluggish control.

To each their own, though.

I agree. Not once playing did I ever actually feel like I was actually controlling the game.

I thought NFL 2K1 was the best football game ever. Then I thought it was Madden 2001. Then I thought it was Madden 2002. Once I get to play some NFL 2K2 I will probably have a final decision. The way Sega is making their last titles on the Dreamcast exceptionally strong could propel NFL 2K2 into the lead.

I'm not biased against either, I was a huge fan of my Dreamcast when I had it, and as you can tell I am thinking about buying another. I am also a fan of my PS2, and a football game is a football game :D.

I prefer NFL2KX's control and feel and gameplay over Madden's gameplay anyday--it's a football *game* not simulation...so more fun is better than less fun & more realism.

I played Madden 2001 and own NFL 2K2, and between those two games I enjoyed NFL2K2 much more. The controls just seemed a lot more intuitive to me, and my friend(who had never touched a dreamcast before) picked up the controls in less than a quarter.
I've yet to see Madden 2002, but I'm going to have to agree with the obvious number of Dreamcast fans still here, that NFL2k2(the last VC football game ever on DC) stands as the number one console football game out at the moment. :)

Man, I can't wait to get NFL2K2... I may even buy it myself instead of waiting for Christmas...
