So what's the deal with this?

PS3 max supported resolution = 720p

360 max supported resolution = 1080p

What the HELL:|

I guess I skip another year of Madden, even if I do have a 360.

They were loading hella slow today. I thought it was my router actually. Good to hear others are experiencing it too. Seems to be fine now though.

Is it just me, or do they have some of the worst commercials for this game? They have one thats like 3 minutes long that is awful. I change the channel when it comes on.

Has anyone done a PQ comparison between the 2 consoles with this game?

Interesting. At least it's better than last year. Last year the 360 game ran much, much better than the PS3 one.

Ive played a few games online and offline and haven't seen any bugs yet. I have no doubt that some exist, but lets be honest, to expect a game to be bug free is ridiculous. Some will be patched I'm sure. The thing I'm most concerned with is gameplay. So far I haven't seen any bugs in gameplay. The tackling seems significantly improved. Seems they nerfed the truck stick, but stiff arm works pretty well. Running with the QB's isn't as advantageous either as long as the person playing defense isn't a total buffoon. Overall it seems pretty solid to me and at the end of the day, its still the best football game out, period.

Its the only football game out, period.

That being said after the 5-6 games i played last night, I havent experienced too many bugs... Just a lot of INT's

I haven't tried the leagues feature, but from a pure graphics and gameplay standpoint, I think the game is phenomenal.

Thats my point, there isn't a better option. We would all agree its better than football games 2-3 years ago, so it must be the best football in existence. Some things may suck, but if its the best its the best... *shrugs*

I loved NFL 2k5, it was a great game, ESPECIALLY for its time. But I don't think there is any way in hell an unbiased person can say that NFL 2k5 is better than the next gen Madden 09. If they claim that I call them a bold faced liar.

Awesome stuff in this game.

-Played one of the mini games that resulted in a freeze that couldn't be solved without quitting via xmb.
-Was doing a Madden moment, after a play was completed, the game pauses by itself, my DS3 de-syncs itself and nothing short of a hard reset from the console power button would sort it out. Not even plugging in the usb cord or using another controller to unpause the game helped.
-Used the rewind, my TOP went into six figures

I just want to know if they've already printed all the box covers or if when they do a reprint later will Favre be in a different jersey.

There's supposed to be a reprint with Favre in a Jets jersey later. You can download and print out the new cover with Favre in a Jets jersey if you want.

Are people this vain? Seems kinds of unnecessary to download a picture, print it out, and replace a cover because of that. Not like anyone coming to your house would make noise over this.

They do the same thing with NCAA football so people can have their team on the cover. It's not about vanity so much as just being a fan of a certain team.

Correction on my part here. I badly remembered a Gamestop Mascot Cover Promotion

Here are templates for NCAA 09. And you can find some that people already created simply by doing a google search on NCAA 09 Custom Covers.

I have to agree. I was a 2k5 DIE-HARD, but Madden 09 offers so much more when it comes to on-the-field gameplay. More options with audibles, hot routes, bluffing (the new bluffing play art is SICK), etc. Graphics-wise, 09 is just plain incredible. It shocks me that people are complaining about its graphics. I'm a textbook graphics WHORE, and I think it's gorgeous.

So I've played half a game so far (sorry for backing out Cuda), and haven't done much more aside from look at the box - and I discovered some funny things.

I got the Collector's Edition partly because I like Head Coach, but mostly because it was free - anyway, on the inside of the box they have pictures of all of the Madden covers since 2001, and alongside that a timeline of what each version of Madden accomplished.

First thing I noticed - there's 9 years of boxes covered, but only 8 are displayed. Which is missing - 2004. I thought, why would they skip just that one year. Then I remembered - who was on the cover that year? Yessir - Mr. Michael "Dog Killer" Vick. I guess they want to remove him from history altogether.

Second, the achievements for each year of Madden are laughable. It starts off strong - starting in 1989 and having noticeable gameplay improvements each year - addition of the NFLPA license, addition of Franchise mode, addition of online play, etc. Then it just kind of fades off. My favorite is 2007 - "The Madden Franchise celebrates its 7th consecutive year as the bestselling sports video game". 2008 - "Brett Favre becomes the first retired player to be featured on the cover of Madden NFL Football". Oh really?

Laughable.

The game seems good, though. Not sure if this or NCAA will hold my grasp. Online dynasty in NCAA is above and beyond anything Madden looks to offer.

Go to the forums at operation sports. I'm almost certain there will be an up to date roster on there. The easiest system will be the original xbox but I'm sure there will be PS2 rosters as well. The gameplay and presentation is still unmatched. Graphically you will see the age, but the realism of the animations hides this quite a bit.

I (maybe) had a breakthrough with the AI....

I hadn't really run into any issues with the computer AI until a few games into my season, when suddenly the computer's passing game became completely unstoppable, which I'd read other people complaining about. I had two games in a row where the opposition was something absurd like 24/26. I was getting pretty pissed...and then I realized, before that started I tweaked my coach settings. One of the changes I made was to move the defense slider much more on the 'aggressive' side. Maybe that's where the mistake it?

Tonight I'm going to move that slider back down and see what happens.

I purchased it on release day and have not had too many problems with it, with the only problems being small things (minor graphics clipping, CPU QB's are a little too accurate, CPU lead blockers/linemen can be borderline incompetent at times, and the animations in instant replays are choppy). Oh yeah - I, at one point, had a 125% completion percentage with my QB.

Aside from all that, the gameplay, graphics, and fluidness of the controls are completely unmatched by any other football game out there. It's the best football experience yet...anyone who claims otherwise either has a personal vendetta against EA or has a personal vendetta against EA.
