It just seems like the I'm watching a show written for people with no working memory or something.
Ok.

First off, there's a huge amount of characters.
So what. Do you have problems remembering them?

For example: Helen Bishop - She was mentioned a lot in season 1. Betty has a problem with her. Then she disappears pretty much for good.
Remember the big issue was Helen was a divorcee. Now Betty is a divorcee.

Betty - Hand tremor problem. Never addressed, magically disappears.
Don't you remember. it was a psychological issue. She went to a psychologist.

It's like all the characters are brain-damaged or something.
I think it's just some viewers have trouble remembering what's going on. Maybe there's too many characters for them to remember.

I have a problem with awkward character development. I find it hard to care about characters who are very distant from the main ones.

Remember the big issue was Helen was a divorcee. Now Betty is a divorcee.

You completely missed the point here.

Don't you remember. it was a psychological issue. She went to a psychologist.

And that explained her problems completely!! They left it completely open... She is a child who is jealous and bitter... yet she shows high levels of maturity and critical thinking in certain situations. I have a hard time seeing these traits on the same person. Hand shaking was never addressed as the show never suggested that she got better at all. This is a random inconsistency.

I think it's just some viewers have trouble remembering what's going on. Maybe there's too many characters for them to remember.

I bet those watchers don't know questions from statements?

I guess I can't really hate on the show. Just not understanding the appeal as I'm used to traditional plots and more structure. I thought the first few episodes were genius.

I meant to post that in the actual Mad Men thread lol my bad.

But you really need to watch past season 1 if you want to understand the love, the first season just seems pretty stale when looking back on everything. It's literally the first show in the history of everything to get better each season.

I was thinking the same thing, I bought the blu rays a while and recently started watching them to zone out before bed.

For me, it's looking at how people respond to a changing world. While the show is careful not to include specific historical events, each character has a role to play society's reaction to that change. Some are at the lead, some are making the transition, and some are clinging to the old ways.

Meanwhile, all of these people, with many different points of view, are trying to manage a single company that must be able to accurately reflect popular culture to survive.

The show is a slow burn, but the advantage of that is you get to get a long stare at each person involved. They don't rush through personal transitions, and none of them feel unnatural.

90% of the sitcoms these days are pure fluff.

HIMYM is something that TRIES to be realistic, then fails miserably. It is as funny as ho-ho's. Sweet at first, but then you just get sick of (and on) them.

Most of the other sitcoms have been supplanted by "reality" shows and competitions.

"Dancing with the Stars".

Bleh.

Christina Hendricks has two big reasons. But even that is not enough to hold my attention. If I wanted to watch people smoke I would go sit near a bar entrance.

I tried to get into Mad Men but couldn't. Watched the first episode and found it really boring.

Oh well, it's just a show that's not for me. You don't have to do any kind of in-depth analysis, some things you like and some things you don't like.

I have to disagree. There are plenty of good reasons for men like myself to watch "Dancing with the Stars." Plenty of good reasons.
