mad cow disease

pontifex

Lifer
we always hear about the affects this has on meat but i don't think i have ever heard about how it affects milk, or doesn't it?

The prions supposedly are generally localized in the brain and spinal cord, so milk is an unlikely medium for infection.

mad cow disease is spread by a protein located in the nervous system. since the milk producing parts don't come in contact with the brain/spinal cord, it is unlikely. also, the pasturization process destroys most proteins. never drink raw milk however.
