Mad Cheap Batteries!

Though it's not an online deal, you can pick up a 10 pack of Ikea branded Varta AA's for $1.99 at Ikea stores. That's cheap. They're fine for normal use. Yes, they're alkalines. Varta is, I believe, a bigger name in Europe (or at least Germany) than in the US.

No, they are not alkalines.

<< 60 AA super heavy-duty mercury-free batteries >>

Super heavy-duty are crappy batteries with a fraction of the life of alkalines.

<< buy rechargeables, 1 NiMH equals a thousand alkalines. 1200mAh to 1800mAh

Check out this link- not sure if the price is that hot- but the chart at the bottom of the page shows the cost comparison between alkaline and NIMH- amazing! I have used a MAHA charger with 2 sets of 4 Nexcell NIMH AA's in my digicam for close to 3 years and they rock! Never bought an alkaline for it ever.

BTW- if you are looking for alkaline I bought a flashlight on sale at Target for $10 that included 2 Flashlights and 50!! Duracell alkaline AA's!
Doh! Here's the link!

The IKEA batteries ARE alkaline. Sitting on the ledge of my keyboard is a yellow IKEA AA battery with the word "Alkaline" printed in silver letters. It continues to read "Mignon LR6 AA AM3 / MN1500 1.5V / 0% Cadmium/Mercury / Produced by Varta for IKEA / Make in Germany".

But I do have to agree with other posts -- rechargables are a much better deal than any one-use battery.

NiMH ain't too good for remotes tho.. batteries in those last forever almost. what do you use for NiMH? i would really like to use them, but found the only things i use AA/A's for are for low drain clocks and remotes.... i do have 4 for my MD tho... and used those for my mp3 before. unless i get an oly digital.. won't be happening soon 🙂

"This battery bulk pack provides you with 60 AA super heavy-duty mercury-free batteries, perfect for running small electronics such as remotes, portable CD players, MP3s, and pagers."

From the order page for those that can't read and still think they are alkalines.

This week at Shop Rite with PricePlus Club card 12+4 pack of Duracell AA or AAA batteries for $4.34. The 12+4 pack is 12 Coppertops and 4 of the new Ultras. My ShopRite has a 4 pack limit so if you buy 4 packs for $17.36 you get 48 Coppertops and 16 Ultras. You get 4 more batteries (16 of them Ultras) for $.13 less.... and no shipping, unless you charge yourself for the trip to the market 🙂
