What? No removable battery? Are you really serious? I'm beyond words...

If it can last as long as they claim, I don't think it will matter

I just have great doubt that it will.. the batteries never last as long as they claim.

Phil did say that they have a program though, so maybe that'll help if it ever does fail.

Reason why it's annoying, to me, is that I really wanted to upgrade to the newer 17" model.. but I'm a one laptop person, so if I have to replace the battery, I usually can't afford to be without the computer for long periods of time. Hopefully they're new replacement program will fix that.

Variable song pricing, Apple sold out to the man.🙁

At least no more DRM, booo no mac mini, booooo!
DRM wasn't Apple's choice, the labels forced it upon them. Apple could have stood tall and said no, stood up for consumers and told the labels where to stick it. But no, Apple caved in under the pressure and sold us out so that the labels could have variable pricing and get a much bigger cut of revenue for songs sold via cellular networks.

RIP Apple, 1976-2009.

Why would you change the pricing infrastructure to .69 and 1.29? If you're going to do that.. you might as well just let the labels set any price they want. I'm certain that they won't be putting any new releases at the .69 level, and I sure as heck am not buying any of it for 1.29 when I can get it for .89 on Amazon.

Amazon will announce variable pricing by the end of the month. They're the lackeys for the labels, they only exist because the labels propped them up to try to force Apple's hand.

Wow, no Mac Mini.. what's a failure. One would've hoped Apple would've gone out with a bang for their last MacWorld. I want my hour and a half back..

OK, that sucked. Not only did I not get a single prediction right, but now my Apple stock is going to tank because they only had one major product refresh and NO new product releases. Boo!

I was thinking that too... All the new stuff is gonna be $1.29

Now I'm seeing that they are saying they're keeping the .99, and just adding .69 and 1.29 options for the studios. Still sucks.. but maybe most of the studios will keep the tracks at .69 and .99.

We'll see...

I guess since there's no Mini update I'll wait until Snow Leopard comes out and see if there are any issues with Hackintoshes.

boo, no new mac mini. No wonder most of PC enthusiasts dislike apple. Is it too much to ask to get a PC with OSX in 2009 that is up-to-date and doesn't cost arm and leg?

releasing $2800 laptop in these hard times versus $599 mac mini seem pretty shortsighted to me.

Yea, but they already had the $2800 laptop (and the $599 mini) so they were finishing up the update for their portables. They need to update the Mac Pro, and the iMac as well. The Mini's life is sort of in question since it has been soo long since the last update, but if they are going to update it, then I would expect that it would be at the same time as the other desktops.

The mini is a big product update, if it goes the way that the rumors said. With a new design, etc... so I'd assume that'd be Stevenote worthy. So I'd look for this, along with iMac/Mac Pro updates in Feb/Mar.

Interesting that in order to get a new laptop with a matte finish I need to buy a 17inch laptop that costs a grand more then I want to spend.

You could buy a glossy one and have a spritzer bottle handy 😛

Seriously though I think they make matte screen covers for them though.

Well the good news is unlike the pc world I left, the apple world is good at keeping me from spending my money rather then upgrading just because the new greatest thing came out. So I probably won't NEED a new laptop for a few years. I'll just spend my money on other toys LOL.

Y'know.. I hadn't thought about that.. but this is the longest that I've owned a single build of a computer. I've been switching out the HDD in this machine, but that's about it. Crazy.
