it's probably the fact that everyone in the school can use these, and they probably haven't been formatted since they were set on the desk :(

Yes, macs only hate you :p. What do you mean it didn't like your HDD? It wouldn't mount it, or it just didn't see it at all? Also, what version of OS X are they using, jaguar or panther? And what type of iMac, the CRT older version, or new LCD version?

Congrats, you've discovered the reason I refuse to take any more jobs requiring me to use macs all day.

This is the seemingly braggable power of macs, why I hate them, and why, in my opinion, they suck ASS.

Such a hater, no wonder why the mac doesn't like you; it can sense the evil in you :p.

That was my experience as well when I had to use some of ours at school for a graphic design class. I'd heard over and over again from mac heads that macs were so much more reliable and better for graphic design. I figured they were probably pretty good all the same, but just not my cup of tea because I liked PC games. I'd always even maintained myself that mac was the superior graphics platform, mostly just parroting what I heard...but I'd figured there must be some truth to it.

After actually using some of the new ones (G4s)...I don't know the hell these mac guys are talking about. The only explaination I could for them loving them is that they are arrogant elistists who couldn't be bothered to try and learn windows. I would go into the lab to do some basic photoshop stuff and run IE at the same time. It would lock up and crash pretty frequently, despite the fact its running on a semi standard platform compared to the PC. It would frequently refuse to acknowledge my zip disk when inserted, forcing me to do the reboot mouse button trick to get it out. Sometimes that didn't even work and I'd have to remove the face plate with a knife to get my work out. (because the mac OS is suppose to be so infalliable that it doesn't even need a manual eject button) Photoshop took (I'm not exaggerating) 20 MINUTES!!! to save a file to the zip disk. The last draw was when I put in a burned CD into the drive and the mac told me I couldn't eject it because "only an administrator could unmount a volume"

After that, I just installed a copy of photoshop 7 onto one of the older PCs at school for when I wanted to do my work there. No crashes on win2k, zip disks always ejected and didn't take 20 minutes to save too.

(I got the CD out of the drive btw, although I'm not sure if the drive worked anymore after I got it out. But I had to get to class! I didn't have time to mess with a mac that was on its period or something.)

Seriously, its like the mac is going through the same incompatiability hissy fit the PC had 10 years ago now. Only its not as funny this time!

When I was working as a TA in a mac lab I had to restart those bastards every five minutes cause they would crash. The teacher would sit there cursing pc's while his is frozen. WTF?
