Macs do Windows, too.

Pretty cool...I've been thinking about buying a Mac for several months but the price is what kills it for me. When I can get a PC for a third of what a Mac costs it's a no-brainer to stay with Windows.

Maybe one day...

Besides looks, what IS the real reason for getting a mac? Is it the same thing with the ipod? because it looks nice?

seriously, WHO CARES??? Why would you want to run windows on a mac? It's pointless, unless you like paying apple's inflated computer prices

I'll stick to my custom-built PC thank you, it beats up a mac and probably cost less than apple's higher-end system

I guess part of it is looks and part of it is wanting to try something new and different. And there's also the whole security issue thing where Linux and Mac are supposed to be more secure than Windows. I still think that's because the majority of hackers target Windows rather than Linux or Mac, but other people say that Linux and Mac ARE inherently safer just by design (I'm not sure which side I believe).

But I guess the overwhelming thing is I want to try something different than Windows...although I have to admit that Windows does work fine for me...I don't have any crashes, viruses, adware, etc....I just want a change I guess.

Whats the point? Cant get a decent video card for the damn mac anyway.

Yeah, that 7800GT that is listed as an upgrade option for the PowerMac G5 is teh suxor, and I would care to wipe by butt with the Quadro they offer. 🙂 I can only imagine that the Intel versions of the PowerMacs will offer 7900GTs as an option. They'll likely support Crossfire of SLI as well.

When it comes to the current lineups. the X1600s that come with the MacBooks and iMacs are actually really nice for laptop graphics. You really aren't going to find anything much better in any machines of the same weight and size class. Sure, the iMac doesn't stack up so well with a SLI gaming rig, but then again that gaiming rig doesn't have as small a desktop footprint so they really can't be fairly compared.
