Macs are apparently too hot for my dorm room desk to handle...

To anyone considering a Macbook: the last generation Powerbooks ran cooler, and look what one did to my (admittedly old and decrepit) dorm room wooden desk!

Clearly, 7 months of getting hot and then cooling down due to my laptop's excessive heat radiation have taken their toll on this baby.

The crack on that last one's out of focus, but the pencil and penny are clear enough to give you a sense of scale. Is there some kind of heat-resistant glue or fill or something I can fill this in and smooth it over with? I'm afraid I'm going to get charged some obscene amount of money at the end of the year.

Hmm, im not sure what you can do for repairs but you might want to get one of those cooling pads for your notebook. Or just slide 2 books on the sides to keep the bottom from touching the table. (That would probably help a bit with the cooling.)

Well, I figure that it's not going to crack any more than it already has. Besides, I only have to live with it for another month.

School lasts another month?

Try throwing some wood putty in there and get one of those "stain markers" to try to touch it up a little.
