Windows and modern desktop linux distros offer this via keyboard and mouse action. The closest I have been able to find is a $13 app called sizeup, link. Have anyone here found a better solution?

I find windows snapping in Win7 super irritating. Maybe I want to place my window half off the screen!!!

Somewhat related: I use RightZoom to make the green button work correctly.

And it's free.

I use HyperDock. It provides window snapping as well as window previews (Windows 7/8 "Peek") from the dock. It's about $10. I use it every day without thinking, so I have no problem forgoing two quad venti non-fat latte's in trade. ;)

I never had much problem with it. With the advent of widescreens, I find myself full-screening things less and less. On my work laptop, it's basically just email, the webapp we use, and excel that get that treatment, nothing else. I just didn't use the green button much outside of Safari (where it resizes the window to fit the content).

I use BetterSnapTool, think it was/is $1.99 in the AppStore.
Same guys who make BetterTouchTool which is also great.
