As of recently, I have been unable to hold down the mouse button with any mouse I have plugged into my Quicksilver G4. When I hold down on the mouse button, it is interpreted as a very frequent series of single clicks. The trouble shooting steps I have tried are:
Tried Using 3 Different Mice, the Apple Optical Mouse, An IBM Mouse, and a Microsoft Mouse.
Plugged into all available USB ports on computer with all said mice. This includes the keyboard, monitor, and directly connected to the motherboard.
Booted from backup operating system not touched since february.
The Problem still exists despite all these different solutions. I have tried all possible permutations of these combinations to no avail. This leads me to believe this is a firmware problem. Another thing that leads me to believe this is when I was fixing a monitor display problem, I typed 'reset-all' in the Open Firmware command console. The mouse problem popped up pretty soon after I typed this (not sure if it worked the night I solved said problem).
Also, I moved the computer quite a bit between the monitor problem and this new mouse problem, so there's a very slight chance that might have affected it.
Anyway, the steps I've tried to solve this problem have been typing 'reset-all' and 'set-defaults' in Open Firmware, zapping the PRAM, and removing the PRAM battery. None of these were working and I was wondering if there was something I could download that would give me the OEM firmware or possibly a set of commands in Open Firmware that me and my friends could use to try to solve the problem (we're all Comp Sci majors and have never seen anything like this). Any help would be appreciated.
