Machine Rebooting

I installed a Geforce 4MX with drivers from NVidia's site; the machine would perpetually reboot if a monitor was attached at startup.

Now the machine reboots constanty.
How would I create a boot volume so that I may modify files?

Hi Nail, welcome to the Forums 🙂 To start with, try booting in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key just as the first Windows boot screen is beginning to show after POST.

What monitor and motherboard do you have, out of curiosity?

Advanced tab of system properties, startup and recovery, system failure area, automaticaly restart. Uncheck.

Enjoy BSOD's and their error messages to narrow down problem.

Safe mode doesn't work.

It's a Compaq.
I don't understand how one thing has to do with another. How did Compaq disable safe mode on your PC? Every Compaq (including the one my gf owns) that I have ever touched (I used to be a PC Tech) was able to enter safe mode.

What I usually do is start hitting F* when I see the Compaq logo come up on screen, as often the logo "obscures" the boot sequence. This should work, as I can't imagine safe mode was "disabled" on your machine.

If you have a different monitor, try it in place of the one you're using now. What model of monitor do you have, by the way? I have a specific reason for asking.
