Machine guns!

Whew, that was quite an experience. I think it's pretty safe to say that place has the highest concentration of civillian automatic weapons in the world. The number just sitting for sale was amazing, and damn the prices! I lost track of how many $15,000-$30,000 guns were just sitting out on tables. And now for the good stuff...night shoot is the best vid but check out the rest if you like this sort of activity. Don't forget to crank up the volume!

The Vids:

AK variant
General MG fire
More general MG fire
M2 Browning I think
Flamethrowers
Night shoot!

The night shoot vid starts about 3-4 seconds after firing began. Stupid guy counted down too fast! Yes this place had a scary number of rednecks.

Oh in the two general vids I am pretty sure that is indeed a dual MG 42 setup in front of me. Unfortunately the guy wasn't shooting it for some reason. And those are a couple miniguns you hear/see in a few of the vids.

The vids are in DivX...you probably don't have it.

I really wish I had managed to record the beginning of the night shoot. It was incredible. "Left side ready! Right side ready! Let's rock!" and BOOM the night goes from dark and quiet to lit up as you see the vid start in the blink of an eye.

ya, the avi didn't render quite well. it was "black screen" all the way until the end; then on the 2nd run (it was on repeat) it did a little better. I had K-lite codec pack.

thats a nice quality video camera you have. and wow flamethrowers

Yeah the quality surprised me. I only took it on a Canon A700 digicam. But it did really good with all the light variation especially for the night vid.

How was the weather out there? I would have gone (for the third time), but it didn't make sense to drive 700 miles each way to camp in the rain.

It was pretty nasty. Mud all over the place. I was only there from about 6-9:30 on Sat, but it had rained all day long. So from the vehicles moving in and out the roads were all covered in mud. During the evening it wasn't too bad...just drizzled a little and was damp. Though I did have to stand in a puddle of nasty water for 45 mins on the roof to get the night shoot vid. But it was worth it!

Never been to a machine gun "shoot" but I've fired the M2, M249, M240B, and MK19 machine guns. M2 was probably the best experience.

Ah, I'm glad I didn't go then. Camping in that would have sucked. Glad you got a spot up on the roof. We didn't know about that our first time there, and although we managed to get a spot right on the fence, it was in front of a gate (so we had to move every time someone went in or out), and it was really cramped and uncomfortable. Our second time up on the roof was much better.
