machine freez up

about 1 1/2 - 2 months my machine starting freezing up, and it was happening only while i play games. then starting freezing up when i do basic work, like browisng folders, viewing files, etc...
here what i have:
ATI ALL-IN WONDER ATI X800 (got it right before problem)
Asus P8P400-E Deluxe (got it right before problem)
3.2 Ghz P 4 CPU (have it for aboiut 3yrs)
2GB RAM (have it for aboiut 2yrs)
Zalman Cooling fan (got it recently)
i tested my RAM - did not find any errors.
is anyone got any ideas? any help would be really appreciated.
i'm thinking it's cpu.

sounds almost like a heat problem thats getting worse, have you made sure the fan(s) are working in the power supply and the heatsink fan for the cpu, and the fans on the video card(if its got one)?

i had a heatsink issue before until i got zalman heatsink...now it's 50C loaded
i installed 2 case fans for out(they are working fine) and i have one side fan for in(this one kinda does not do the job)

what should i check in power supply fan for? so far i can see it's working...
