Senior member
recently installed a new truepower 2.0 430W psu, then after getting the kinks worked out of the system, i powered on and now at various times during startup or in windows, it will give me the BSOD with a MEC...

i have 2 sticks of memory, it's doing it with any and all combinations of it. kinda at a lost here, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

tried reformatting...problem still exists as windows stalls before it can finish installing properly

AMD 64 3000+
MSI K8N Neo FSR
1Gig 2x512MB OCZ Premier value ram
120 gig maxtor hdd
geforce 4 mx
sb live 5.1

i just got done running memtest86. it went thru without finding any memory errors..i could have swore that was the problem 🙁

also, when i boot up, in the system info screen is says i have ddr at slots 2 3 4 5...

but my mobo only has 3 ddr slots.

possibly the mobo? is there any definitive way to test it?

appreciate any all help guys 🙁

Each memory slot=2 banks, so if you have 2 sticks of memory it's gonna show 4, thats normal. Try installing the OS with your soundcard removed and a single stick of ram, Sound Blaster has been known to have some driver issues that cause problems.
