Machine Check Error?

Recently, after switching my computer's case, I started getting a little popup from the system tray informing me that "a machine check error has occurred" and I should refer to the event log. All the log tells me is that "Machine Check Event reported is a corrected error."

My understanding is that machine check error probably indicates that the CPU itself may have some kind of problem. Is this the consequence of running an e2180 at 3.5ghz/1.5v for a year? Is its end near? Or is it likely to be something else?

Yeah, most likely, but not necessarily. Get back to us with the specific code you're getting.

I used to get these all of time with my AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (@2000+ speeds, FSB 166), and a Via KT400 mobo. Never figured out what caused them, and they didn't seem to harm anything.
