I spent the past 2 weeks alternating between the two shavers to decide which I like better. Since the cheapie ones I like are NLA. Bastages. I shave my head as well as my face, so my situation may be different than yours.
Anyway, here's my report:
Gillette Mach 3 Turbo
The funky head design takes some getting used to. It sort of drags along like some farm equipment behind a tractor. I actually thought this design would be better when shaving my head. I like the rubber grips on the handle, they give the razor a good positive feel in the hand. The lotion strip on the cartridge is excellent. Zero razor burn and skin is nice and soft after shaving.
Results: Generally unhappy. Shave isn't very close. Cartridge doesn't flex like the Tracer technology in the Extreme 3 which means I have to go over my head several times to get spots that are missed.
Schick Extreme 3
My first choice since I was a Tracer user since it came out. The flex head is great for shaving my head. I rarely have to go back and fix missed spots.
The lotion strip isn't as nice as the one on the Mach 3. I still have to rub lotion into my skin after shaving with this to prevent/repair razor burn. Shave is much closer than any other blade I've used.
Results: Closeness of the shave makes this one the clear winner. The Tracer style flex head is a godsend saving all kinds of time in the morning from not having to re-shave to get missed spots and stripes. Lotion is signifigantly inferior to the Mach 3.
THE WINNER!!!
The Schick Extreme 3.
