MacBook Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz 869.99 AR

Definitely A Cool Machine For The Money...

These Apple MacBooks Rock!

Best Of All Worlds For Computing While Enjoying It...

Apple charges sales tax in nearly all states so you are looking at around ~30-40 bucks average to get a new one nobody's drooled on. Or the same price if you're in CA.

Also note guys that this is the original Core Duo processor, not the Core 2 Duo. There's a 10-20% performance difference (depending on the app) for those that care. Also the C2D supports 64-bit instructions where the original does not. Not crapping, just misread myself and thought I'd help stop anyone else from doing the same ^_^

Is it worth going with C2D for someone who's not a power user but uses their computer for more then just text and email?

No, not really the duo should be more than sufficient for your needs.

IMHO no. Core Duo is still very potent, should be plenty of performance for mobile use. The 512MB of memory and 5400RPM drive are gonna hold you back long before the CPU.

I kind of misread this thought that you were talking about text and e-mail as what you do with you computer. if you could tell us exactly what your use your computer I could give you a better answer

gaming I can tell you is almost outa the question considering it has onboard video but it will meet basic needs and lowers the cost, though I have seen people playing hl1 and mods and even HL2 though HL2 looked very very choppy.

I have the 2.0ghz regular macbook and I run Unreal Tournament, all half-life 1 mods, and medal of honor allied assault flawlessly.

Has anyone else tried playing some recent games with the new MBP C2D? thinking of upgrading my G4 powerbook.

looking at running games like company of heroes, AOE3, Warhammer 40k...
