Mac users with AIM

A buddy of mine has a Mac (iBook) and claims that he cannot figure out how to setup his AIM profile. I haven't dealt with Macs for several years now, but I figured it couldn't be that hard. Does anyone know if there is a trick to doing this?

1) Open iChat
2) Go to iChat Menu > Preferences
3) Click "Accounts"
4) Type in username and password

Done.

By profile, does he mean his AIM info? (The place where people like to stick quotes or favorite links)
