linky. the only reason for mac users being more affluent i can think of is cause they costs alot more anyway so u have to be...

I saw this story a few days ago.....this is why the media makes me laugh.....Mac's cost more than PC's do, so people with more money to spend are able to purchase Mac's, if so desired. Usually, more money = more education......They didn't need to do some expensive survey to figure that out.

Mac population presents a very attractive target for marketers, both online and offline,? the research group said.

Obviously. Which company wouldn't want to be able to sell a cheapo peice of sh!t for an astronomical price?

Most of us here bargain hunt, so wanting to get the best bang for our buck makes us dumb, while mac users who buy the most expensive, crappy sh!t without thinking are smart?

HA

Kelly said the greater affluence and education level of those who surf using a Mac is attributable in part to the company?s comparatively pricier machines, as well as to their perception as a status symbol and their greater market share among those in the publishing and design industries.

That about sums it up. They make more web sites per capita because they are more often designers and graphics folks.

They buy more per capita because they are more materialistic (i.e., interestred in status symbols).

But if one was to look at raw numbers and not per capita numbers, they would see Mac users make up a nearly insignifigant amount of total computer users, web page publishers, and online buyers.

"A representative for PC maker Dell noted that it doesn?t seem to be lacking for customers and that half of those customers buy their PCs over the Web ? a sign that Windows users are also adept online."

Hoo boy, this is cutting-edge journalism.
