Mac Question

My Grandma in law has a 400mhz iMac. I have a 64 meg PC-100 dimm pulled from a HP pavillion, do you think it would be worth a try installing this in the Mac? This computer desprately needs a memory influx. It has 64meg now. Thanks todd

I think those iMacs only used SO-DIMMs, like those found in laptops; it was only later that Apple moved to standard DIMMs for the iMac. Check the specs on the machine. If it turns out that the iMac does use standard DIMMs, then there should be no problem using that memory.

Good luck,
Nick

I believe that is a second or third generation imac and it will take PC100 type memory. Try it and see if it works the slot is located at the bottom of the machine. Open the door and take a look. It was only the first year of imacs that took SO-Dimms.

The imac that you are talking about is a slot loading imac. (350mhz to 700mhz) These take standard PC100 dimms. The installation instructions that you are looking for can be found right here.
