mac osx tiger???

is it possible to install mac os x tiger on my pc??? like have dual boot both windows and osx

here are my specs:

  • Case-Aspire x-cruiser case

    Psu- Ultra Xfinity 500 Watt Psu

    Mobo-Asus m2n32 deluxe wireless edition

    Cpu-Amd Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.40 ghz overclocked at 2.60ghz

    Cpu cooler- Thermalright's ultra 120 with a panaflo ultra high speed fan

    Gpu-Evga 512mb Nvidia geforce 7900 gt ko sli

    Ram- Crosair 4 gb pc 4200 ddr2 ram

    Hd-120 gb Seagate hard drive/200 gb seagate external hd

    Os- Windows Xp Pro sp2

    Cooling- 1 120mm Thermaltake smart case fan,1 80mm thermaltake fan,2 apevia 80mm fans..all with blue leds
 
No, I don't think it's compatible with that Thermalright heatsink or Crosair memory. It might even have problems with ricey cases.


In all seriousness, I believe you can, but only as a virtual machine. I doubt MS VirtualPC (now free) supports it, but VMware can probably do it. There's not much, well zero value, to buying VMware workstation and OSX just to make a VM to run on VMware.

I personally don't see much at all in OS X that I would consider better than XP (at least not enough to outweight cons) other than unix-like stuff like a good terminal. If you want to experiment and dual-boot a new OS, try a fairly easy linux distro like Ubuntu. If you don't have experience with it already, it certainly doesn't hurt to know your way around it and can actually be pretty good for regular use (at least since the past couple years, IMO) if you don't do much gaming, windows development, etc. Best of all, it's free.

heh i used to a be hard core pc/windows person. used to be. still am kind of, just to satisfy the needs of others, but i'm kind of addicted to the mac platform at the moment.
 
You can certainly do it. I had it on an Inspiron (native installed... not VMWare... doing a google search should come up with lots of results).

i have all my specs saved so i don't type all that out i just copy and paste it...so ya everything is listed
 
wait, hold the phone, are you saying that i can i install OS X on my pc, i'd love to do that, i have a spare drive i could through it on. Is it a total pain in the ass, or is it basicaly put the CD in and install it? I do have a core 2 duo processor.

Ask apple.

All of the Windows users installing OS X on their PCs are going to ruin it for Apple users. Right now Apple users don't have to activate, or register, or provide a cd key or anything like that. In fact, if I wanted to (break the eula) I could install one copy of OS X on all of my Macs. If people continue to pirate it and install it on whatever crappy hardware they have lying around I'll end up having to enter a cd key or do some other ridiculous anti-piracy measure.

So in short, if you want to use OS X, get an Apple machine.
