<< It looks like they have the rumor on their main page now -- http://www.macosrumors.com

Well, I asked my boss to hold off on the TiBook order until next week. We will see if they actually speed bump them. They probably won't, but don't you just hate it when you order something and by the time it is delivered there is already something better?!?

The newer iBook came out a month or two after I picked up my 500mhz one :p

Do you have the one with the 12.1" screen? How slow is iBook compared to PowerBook? ;)

I guess its a 12.1". It is one of the iBooks with the 66mhz bus. The powerbook a coworker owns is much faster than my ibook. The faster bus helps a lot. I think thats the main problem with speed on my ibook. If you are looking for a beginner's Mac (and I dont think you are Charles ;)), a newer iBook would be perfect. A little slow, but what laptop isnt?

Yeah, the 667 MHz TiBook has a 133Mhz bus, hopefully that will make it snappy. My G4 tower is an older one with a 100MHz bus.

Right after Apple released 14" iBook, I always tell myself that 'iBook' is good enough', but everytime I see the PowerBook...I can't let my hands of her! Grr...It's gorgeous. Anyway, performance wise 100MHz iBook is fast enough, IMO. Especially considering my current laptop is only a 600Mhz PIII (Gateway Solo 9300XL) ;)

I think, Apple should have a special discount policy for Wintel users who buys Mac for the first time. :)

wondering if anyone tried out that virtual desktops software for OSX and has screen shots?

apple does have a lot of discounts btw. student discounts are pretty good. some of the apple retailers are cheaper than apple. thats always good to check out. the ucla store gets dirt cheap sometimes. thats where i got my ipod for 290 total. you cant beat that. theres always deals running around.

Hrmmm... If I wait until I go back to school... And the other retailers arent usually cheaper, but they offer free stuff (like RAM or POS printers) with the purchase. Atleast, thats what Ive seen.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, I think I may be able to switch the order to the new series.

(After all, the PO was just started on Thursday, it would really suck to get burned that badly that close to the new revision)

Yay!!! It looks like my boss will cancel the PO and re-issue a new one for the new line!

Finally, something goes my way for a change...

yeah, you shouldnt have a problem doing that but the question is, how long will it take you to get the new machine? apple is kinda slow with new products.

I am willing to wait. I would much rather wait a while and get the 800MHz/1MBcache/Radeon7500/HigerResLCD!

I read this weekend that most of the resellers were out of stock of the powerbooks and that apple wasn't accepting backorders. Therefore, I would guess it would take the same time to get any PowerBook at this time.

I still have my G4 tower (and my 2 PIIIs) at work until this thing arrives, so I should be fine. ;)

C'mon nOc, show some love! I have gotten burned by so many of these things that I deserve to have one go right. Heck, I had one of Apples Performa (sic) models, ugh!

It is a work machine, though, so not as much of a toy as it could be. But I am sure I will have fun with it.

I will let y'all know about it when I get it. Knowing Apple's ability to fill demand, I will be waiting a while. But who knows, it is just a revision, not a completely new product...

Got my new TiBook yesterday. Wow, is it ever sexy! It is maxed out on everything except for RAM. 800MHz, 512MB, 60GB, DVD/CDRW, 32MB Radion 7500, Airport...

I really think that it is silly that this is the first of their portable line that will support Quartz Extreme. They announce Quartz Extreme and at the same time they announce the first machines that will support it. Silly.

Im jealous... Unless they bump up the iBook (G4 with decent graphics) Ill have to upgrade to a TiBook. I want a TiBook, but the expense and the problems with airport annoy me.

So hows the speed gain on that thing? Sounds like it would be one hell of a machine.

So far, so good. I have been spending more time with that Dell Latitude C400 trying to debug Xwindows lately. It is nice to just install OSX and be done with the TiBook. I am upgrading from a 400MHz Graphite G4 AGP tower, so I ought to have a decent performance gain. The only thing I might miss about the G4 is that it had a Geforce2 MX and I am more fond of nVidia than I am of ATI. It is very nice to double my processor speed, double my memory, and triple my disk space with this laptop!

<< problems with the airport >>

What are the problems? We don't have wireless in my building, so I am not really worried, but I was curious as to what the problems were.
