MAC OS X Server and Linux Programs

I was told that BSD could work with linux utilities if linux compatibility libraries are installed.
Where would I download these and how would I go about installing them in OS X Server?

Thanks

why not just recompile the programs. only a few proprietary things need the libs and AFAIK only FreeBSD has them

As with all closed sourced programs you are at the mercy of the vendor. This should not suprise you.

If you don't have the source code then a binary for any certain processor won't run on another (without this slow thing called emulation). That's not weak, that's the way computers work.
