Mac OS X Disk Utility Erase

I've never used it. But I'm guessing it does the same thing as formatting in windows.

I choose dban over anything else that I have access to.
 
I had used Pricacy Eraser for Windows, sometimes it sounds good when I need to clean info data; but for Mac, I will try it later.
 
AFAIK yes. At erase, hit security options, and you'll see several options - if you have a few days on your hands, hit the 35-pass erase. 😀

Unfortunately I can't say how they compare to other erasing utilities, I haven't erased a disc under windows at all. Works for what I use it for, though.
