Mac OS X Disk Utility Erase

Is it safe to use it? Is it comparable to dban or any of those utilities?

I've never used it. But I'm guessing it does the same thing as formatting in windows.

I choose dban over anything else that I have access to.

I had used Pricacy Eraser for Windows, sometimes it sounds good when I need to clean info data; but for Mac, I will try it later.

AFAIK yes. At erase, hit security options, and you'll see several options - if you have a few days on your hands, hit the 35-pass erase.

Unfortunately I can't say how they compare to other erasing utilities, I haven't erased a disc under windows at all. Works for what I use it for, though.
