You are probably used to how Windows handles the cursor, which is fine, and totally normal. I think what helped for me was that I got a macbook, and every laptop I had used before then had an atrocious trackpad that didn't track the same as a mouse anyway.
I think that steermouse will do what you are looking for, and it also includes other functionality. It is expensive for a driver, but it does give you some nice functionality. Well, that is what Tyranicus keeps telling me. I like how my VX revolution works already, so much so that I didn't even bother installing the Logitech Drivers.
