Mac or PC? BF wants a PC.

Should I get a Mac or a PC? My partner wants a PC, but I'm using a Mac at my work. But here is the dilemma: We both are chipping in 50%. What would be better for small children (3-5yo) to learn on? Thanks!

Serious answer - get a PC. Teach your small children the dominant format, it's going to be more useful to them. AFAIK, most school systems run PC's as well.

Why are there children involved in the decision if you are just BF and GF/BF? Is there some type of sinning going on here?

I never understand why people get MACs

Limited software available.
Ridiculously expensive.

Myths that get peopel to buy Macs:
-Mac's don't get viruses but PCs do. WRONG. PCs don't get viruses, idiot users do. I have Firefox, go to all kinds of websites that are probably loaded with viruses. I use Avast. I've never gotten a virus.
-Windows crashes all the time. WRONG. Windows 7 is very stable. Have never had it crash and I've had it since a couple weeks before it was released. So is VIsta but it's a memory hog so you need a more powerful PC to use it.
-Macs are just cool. WRONG. The only people who think macs are cool are other people with macs. So amongst your little club, sure, go ahead and think you're cool for getting a mac while the rest of the world laughs at your ignorance.

As for the kids, don't force the to learn on something that they'll never use once they get into the real world. Buy a PC.

Definitely a PC. The kids need to learn the most on the most prevalent system. If you wanted to broaden their horizons later a second computer could be a Mac, but the first should be a Windows system.

I think you should go post this question in the apple sub forum and see what they have to say.

Really though get a PC... like everyone else suggested.

Also, Macs can get viruses, it's just a combination of things:
- There aren't many Macs around, so getting a virus or worm to spread itself effectively would be tough.
- There aren't many Macs around, so for a virus/worm writer, there's little return for their investment of time.

-Windows crashes all the time. WRONG. Windows 7 is very stable. Have never had it crash and I've had it since a couple weeks before it was released. So is VIsta but it's a memory hog so you need a more powerful PC to use it.
- Hell, I've still got XP, and I get a blue screen maybe twice a year, if even that.

-Macs are just cool. WRONG. The only people who think macs are cool are other people with macs. So amongst your little club, sure, go ahead and think you're cool for getting a mac while the rest of the world laughs at your ignorance.
