On Apple's site, it says that it'll take 3-4 weeks to ship the Mac Mini. Is there anywhere that can ship it sooner, because I'm worried that if I buy one, they will lower the price and I'd have wasted my money.

Typically if they lower the price or upgrade the machine's default configuration while your order is in the queue you will get the upgraded version or they will give you the option to upgrade your order if you call them.

Ironically, they lowered the price on a few of the BTO options today, and up-spec'd the SuperDrive option from a 4X DVD-R to an 8X DVD-R.

So, not a joke.

3-4 weeks is also what Target.com is showing for shipping.

You might want to check your local Apple Store or Apple dealer to see if they have any in stock. Some people have reported seeing Mac Minis at Barnes & Noble stores on college campuses. I ordered mine on the day of its introduction and it arrived on this past Monday morning.

good old m4h with his positivity flaring. I'm thinking, not as much about the lowering of price but maybe them changing out the 256 base ram for 512, or even a video change of some kind. From everything i hear the 256 is inataquit for most applications. I think i'm just wishing on that video cars change though, haha.

They won't change the video card until at least next year imho. the iBook G4 has always had the ATI Radeon 9200 and now they're up to rev c of the ibook g4.

If they change price within two weeks of you getting (ordering?) your system, Apple will send you mail you the difference you paid. I'd assume that if it's on the queue they will do the same.

I highly doubt you'll see more than 256mb ram standard and you definitely wont see a video upgrade (those only happen at rev changes). 256mb is a little low for OSX, apple knows this... ram is cheep I recomend purchasing atleast a 512mb stick for you're new mini! :) enjoy!

why?

Because you gotta rock atleast the 23" :)

Probably because the high native resolution will make the poor integrated Radeon 9200 and its 32MB of RAM eat itself trying to handle the OGL GUI. :)

That sure beats having integrated shared ram graphics.

The 9200 + 32 MB can do 1920x1080 analog VGA or 1920x1200 dvi, but it doesn't leave enough gfx memory to do Expose in hardware. Expose will still work, of course, it just won't have the super smooth animation. (Quartz vs Quartz Extreme)

hmmmmmmm well I ordered one from amazon to save $39 in taxes but it says free promotion of two day shipping. However, when I select it stupid amazon wants $18 to ship....not sure how to contact amazon support so I may just cancel the order not sure.

My other debate is should I get the epson $129 cx6600 printer, scanner, copier with $100 rebate from apple or should I just get the brother mfc-3420c for $104 from amazon which has printer, scanner, copier, fax, adf.

On top of this I'm guessing I definitely need that apple keyboard for the extra usb slots. Not 100% sure if the one on amazon is a knock off apple keyboard or the real deal...pictures are just thumbnails.

Also I called apple store in vegas and they put my name on waiting list so if they get it sooner I'll go pick it up from them and cancel all orders.

i was lucky enough to stumble into my local microcenter, and find that their mac department had 20 mac minis of EACH version! just sitting there! i was able to cancel my order with macmall, and grab one up the next day! i know their not a huge chain, but a couple hour's drive might be worth saving u 3-4 weeks!

Here in Perth, Western Aus, they're selling Mac mini's at Digilife (the bigger of the 4 apple resellers here) with a 17" samsung LCD panel, Apple KBD and mouse, and an Epson printer for only AU$1300. Compared to the other deals you get with PC's around here, that's quite competitive (and on the cheaper side). And the good thing is, no need to wait for it, can just go and get it (although, I want to get something with a G5 in it).
